Truecaller for iPhone: Download and Setup Guide (2026)
Get Truecaller from the App Store (free, iOS 18.2+ required) and complete the five-step setup below to activate real-time caller ID and automatic spam blocking. The free tier covers manual number search and spam reporting; real-time ID, auto-blocking, CarPlay and Apple Watch support need Premium from $2.99/month.
Everything That’s New on iPhone
The January 2025 iOS 18.2 update changed everything for Truecaller on iPhone. Here is what you actually get — and which tier each feature requires:
- Real-time caller ID (Premium). Identifies who’s calling while your phone is still ringing, powered by Apple’s Live Caller ID Lookup API with homomorphic encryption for privacy.
- Auto spam blocking (Premium). Hangs up on known spammers automatically — previously Android-only. Requires all four Call Blocking & Identification switches enabled in iOS Settings.
- Number search (Free). Look up any unknown number manually against Truecaller’s 250M+ user database. Free with ads; Premium gets ad-free instant results.
- CarPlay support (Premium, iOS 26). Caller ID appears on your car’s display while driving. Requires iOS 26 and an active Premium subscription.
- Apple Watch caller ID (Premium, watchOS 26). See who’s calling on your wrist. No additional setup — works automatically once enabled on iPhone.
- Call history search (Premium). Search up to 2,000 past calls in your Recents list for identification history — great for missed calls from unknown numbers.
- Family plan (Premium). Share all Premium benefits with up to four family members on a single plan, billed annually through Apple’s in-app purchase system.
- Verified business ID (Free). Businesses verified by Truecaller show their official name and logo even on the free tier — helpful for identifying legitimate calls from your bank or delivery services.
- Spam reporting (Free). Flag unwanted numbers directly from the Truecaller app. Reports feed the global database that protects all 250M users.
Up and Running in 5 Steps
You need iOS 18.2+ and Truecaller v14.0 or later. Older versions won’t activate real-time caller ID.
- Download from the App Store. Search “Truecaller” on the App Store and make sure you’re installing v14.0 or later.
- Register your number. Enter your phone number, verify via OTP, and set your display name — this is what others see when you call them.
- Enable all four identification switches. Go to Settings → Apps → Phone → Call Blocking & Identification and turn on all four Truecaller toggles. Missing even one reduces coverage significantly.
- Enable Spam Identification in-app. Open Truecaller → Spam Identification → toggle ON. This activates the automatic blocking layer.
- Optional: activate CarPlay / Apple Watch. Requires iOS 26 + Premium. On iOS 26, CarPlay and Apple Watch caller ID activate automatically once Premium is active — no extra steps needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need iOS 18.2 to use Truecaller on iPhone?
For real-time caller ID and automatic spam blocking, yes — those features rely on Apple’s Live Caller ID Lookup API, which requires iOS 18.2+ and Truecaller v14.0+. Older iOS versions and legacy v13.x builds only support manual number search.
Is real-time caller ID free on iPhone?
No. Real-time caller ID on iPhone requires Truecaller Premium, from $2.99/month on an annual plan. The free tier covers manual number search, spam reporting and verified business IDs, but live identification while the phone rings is a paid feature.
Why was call recording removed from Truecaller on iPhone?
Call recording was removed from the iPhone app on September 30, 2025 (v14.0.5). If call recording matters to you, it remains available on Truecaller’s Android app with Premium.
Can I share Truecaller Premium with my family on iPhone?
Yes. The Family Plan shares all Premium benefits with up to four family members on a single plan, billed annually through Apple’s in-app purchase system. It was expanded in v14.1.0.
